Jules Verne's An Antarctic Mystery (1897), also known as The Sphinx of the Ice Fields, is a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. Set in the distant Kerguelen Islands, it is the story of the adventures of Captain Len Guy and his crew onboard the Halbrane. They have embarked on a long and dangerous trip to the Antarctic to search for Guy's brother's missing ship.
