Sara Crewe had a perfect life. Her father, Captain Crewe, was wealthy and sure to become even wealthier on future expeditions. Before departing on his next voyage, he leaves Sara at the Miss Minchin Select Seminary for Young Ladies. There, Sara is treated like royalty. But when news of her father's death arrives soon after her birthday, Sara's life changes forever. Now penniless, she is forced to live in the attic and work as a servant for the school.

A story of the perseverance of love, imagination, and respect in the face of cruelty, The Little Princess has delighted generations of readers as Sara's indomitable spirit has provided inspiration to countless girls and boys.
