Catherine Mintz' First Light is a collection of nine stories published in Interzone, Weird Tales, Tomorrow SF, among others, most of which have not been available in print in the US. The title story, original to the book, gives the background and early history of an astronomical explorer ship, the focus of her current work in progress, but will not be included in the novel itself. The nine other titles cover a wide range of genre material from the Southern gothic of "The Woman Who Knew Better" to the hard science fiction of "Manbap" to the present day fantasy of "Greenwife," concluding with the light-hearted version of a great legend in "One Summer Evening."
