In time travel, it is wrong to believe that a person cannot change the past. The past is the present for anyone living there, and therefore, can be changed. The future is also the present for those living there. So, time is ever changing. It is not linear, traveling from point A to point B in a straight line. It is much more like living water that moves forever forward, always changing, and forever in a circle back into itself.
