Through the Wildwood

A half-zythian bard named Vanx is in chains for bedding the Duchess of Highlake. The Duke wants him dead, but his wife secretly sent their daughter to buy his freedom from the slave markets. This is bad news, for bad things can happen to an ill guarded caravan in the mountains. When the duke's mercenaries attack to kill the adulterous prisoner all hell breaks loose. Now, the only way Vanx and the Princess of Highlake can escape the duke and his men is if they can somehow make it through the Wildwood; a place full of ogres, and trolls, and wolf riding little buggers, a place where danger awaits in places you'd never expect, a place that no man has ever returned from before...

Through the Wildwood kicks off this series with a bang. The author pulls you in with Vanx's deviant imagination, and then comes the troll attack. After that, a fast-paced, hard-core fantasy romp through a dangerous forest ensues. The Wildwood is full of deadly creatures, both plant and animal. There are wizards, ogres, wolf riding little buggers, and a plotting demon to boot. As if getting his group through the Wildwood alive wasn't a hard enough task, a humiliated duke and his mercenaries will stop at no lengths to make him dead.
