In Latin, pari means equal; passu means equal step. Here Jay Harden combines them into one word, Paripassu, to mean walking together, side-by-side, hand-in-hand. This is how he and his first wife, Carolyn, lived their life. They met each other as young teens in 1958, married in 1965, and when she died in 1987, at age 42, they had raised two children and spent almost 30 years together. As Jay puts it, "It was the start of a great adventure that seemed to last a very short time."
