This study looks at the effects of early traumatic experiences on later life, in terms of behaviour displayed by older people, which is often viewed as part of the pathology of old age. As well as individual trauma, the essays look at the effects of larger events, including the Holocaust. Early trauma is seen as a possible causal factor in distressed behaviour in older people, and the contributors look at different ways in which older people can be helped to deal with past trauma.
