Soon to be a Major Motion Picture Directed by Steven Spielberg

A world at stake. A quest for the ultimate prize. Are you ready?

In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days.

When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune – and control of the OASIS itself.

Then Wade cracks the first clue. Suddenly he’s beset by rivals who’ll kill to take this prize. The race is on – and the only way to survive is to win.

‘Wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut’ Independent

‘Part intergalactic scavenger hunt, part romance, and all heart’ CNN

‘Ernest Cline’s novel deserves to be a modern classic’ SciFiNow

‘Gorgeously geeky, superbly entertaining, this really is a spectacularly successful debut’ Daily Mail

Ernest Cline

Ernest Cline has worked as a short-order cook, fish gutter, plasma donor, elitist video store clerk, and tech support drone. His primary occupation, however, has always been geeking out, and he eventually threw aside those other promising career paths to express his love of pop culture fulltime as a spoken word artist and screenwriter. His 2009 film Fanboys, much to his surprise, became a cult phenomenon.

These days Ernie lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, their daughter, and a large collection of classic video games. Ready Player One is his first novel.

Alright, wow. Ernest Cline, you made my inner geek very happy. At first I was worried I would be lost in this book not knowing obscure 80's trivia, but that wasn't the case. I actually recognised way more than I thought, but still it wasn't a necessity in order to get into the story. The plot has so many twists and I can't resist books that keep me on my toes. I have to say, there were points were wanted to strangle Wade Watts. Or punch him in the face at the very least, however I have a soft spot for hacktivists and as soon as he started stepping up and taking risks, oh man I fell in love. So badass. I was so excited to read this and I'm still overly excited about it even after reading it. So great.
