Sông Bé is a factually based historical fiction capturing American history from the beginning of the Vietnam War to the present and told in flashback from present-day New Orleans. Hours before an evening concert at the New Orleans Orpheum Theater, a fit, world-renowned architect, Richard Foxworth, reacts to what his wife finds in his old Army footlocker. It triggers long-buried memories of his role as a second lieutenant in the Battle of Sông Bé during the Tet Offensive of 1968, the wounds he sustained, his treatment at Walter Reed Hospital, his treatment at Rollingwood Sanitarium for post-traumatic distress, the loss of a West Point classmate, and the progression of American civil rights.
