Two men share a name and serve in two different wars 40 years apart. Yet each one finds himself fighting the other man's war and wearing that man's boots. Can they unlock the secret of what is binding them together across time and space before their chance at redemption has passed them by?

A double homicide at the end of the Vietnam war goes unsolved. Charlie Bird a young U.S. Marine in the deserts of Iraq has impossible 'flashbacks' to combat in Vietnam, a war that ended before he was born. But in these brief transits to the past, he is known there as Charlie Bird too, and each experience there is as real to him as his desert war in the present. A much older Charlie Bird, now a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War struggling with deep anger, also finds himself impossibly in the boots of his Iraq warrior counterpart and steps into a replay of the events leading to another double homicide, this time in Iraq, and with him as the accused.

By turns grim, humorous, thrilling, appalling and in the end, redeeming.
