The emergence of new diseases and their adverse effects threaten public health and safety. The advent of SARS-CoV-2 resulted in a global pandemic. Individuals with other comorbidities had a higher risk of infection. The whole world witnessed a massive shortage of medical and other essential supplies needed to combat the virus. There has been an increase in the number of cases of new diseases in the last decade such as mucormycosis, Zika virus, and H1N1 influenza virus. These diseases can be characterized by the induction of cytokine storm, which is mainly responsible for morbidity and mortality.
