Each of the ten sections is composed of twenty-four short poems, and each poem is paired with a drawing that incorporates the Arabic original in its design. In a note to this collection, Mikhail writes, "I practiced two layers of translation in Tablets: the first from words in one language, Arabic, to another, English, and the second from words to images.
