This version of the Caravan & Motorhome Book is an all-new replacement the Campervan & Motorhome Book (first published in 2002). It covers every conceivable aspect of camper trailer, caravan and fifth wheel caravan, campervan and motorhome usage.
Like all of Collyn Rivers' books it is technically sound yet written in plain English. It was initially conceived over 50 years ago during the author's epic trans-Africa trip that included two Sahara crossings. It takes in experience gained during Collyn's subsequent twelve return trips across the centre of Australia from Broome to the east coast and back (24 journeys - each of 7000 km plus) in his converted OKA ex-mining truck. He and his wife (Maarit) did three more (return) trips in their 4.2 litre Nissan Patrol and Tvan. The author's caravanning experience includes towing a 40 year-old caravan from Helsinki (Finland) to 750 km north of the Arctic Circle.

Collyn Rivers

As a ten year old child and then young teenager, Collyn’s circumstances were such that he had no choice but to cope alone in London throughout World War Two. He joined the Royal Air Force when 17, and trained as a ground radar engineer, later becoming a research engineer.

From 1959-1960, Collyn drove a 4WD truck (twice) the length and breadth of Africa, then migrated to Australia. There, he became a publisher and founded Electronics Today International and later, in 2000, moved with his Finnish-born psychologist wife (Maarit) to remote north-west Australia.

With only bore water to hand, they built a cyclone-proof solar-powered home that was virtually self-sufficient. Whilst there, they coped with the worst cyclone to hit the area in 100 years. In 2010, they moved to a (now all-solar) house in Church Point, Sydney.

Much worse quality than the other editions. I saw other edition with larger size cut and better paper quality in bookstore, also with much thicker cover. When I received this book I felt it's an unauthorized copy. Doesn't worth the price. Maybe it's released at a very small amount or printed upon order. Content is ok but quality is so poor. Would rather buy older edition at bookstore as at least can check out the quality. Content doesn't change too much.
