Despite the tumour-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis.

But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love. John Green is the best-selling author of Looking for Alaska; An Abundance of Katherines; Paper Towns; Will Grayson.

'A novel of life and death and the people caught in between, The Fault in Our Stars is John Green at his best. You laugh, you cry, and then you come back for more.' - Markus Zusak, bestselling and Printz Honor-winning author of The Book Thief

'An electric portrait of young people who learn to live life with one foot in the grave. Filled with staccato bursts of humor and tragedy, The Fault in Our Stars takes a spin on universal themes-Will I be loved? Will I be remembered? Will I leave a mark on this world?-by dramatically raising the stakes for the characters who are asking.' - Jodi Picoult, bestselling author of My Sister's Keeper and Sing You Home

'John Green writes incredible, honest truths about the secret, weird hearts of human beings. He makes me laugh and gasp at the beauty of a sentence or the twist of a tale. He is one of the best writers alive and I am seething with envy of his talent.' - E. Lockhart, National Book Award Finalist and Printz Honor-winning author of The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks and The Boyfriend List

Leaving this one for a while as possibly a romance which is not what I read.
Purchased under young adult fantasy or fiction although John Green is highly recommended.
Not yet sure if this will fit in to my reading!
Too difficult at this time with my best friend dying.

I'm seriously late reading this one, but I absolutely loved this story. I loved the quirkiness of Gus and the quick wit of Hazel. Funny, sad and brilliant. Definite tear jerker.

I'm sure most of you have already read/watched this but I wanted to give my opinion on the story. I read this book over a year ago and I immediately fell in love with the story and the characters. I love the way Green writes and how he is able to capture the thoughts of teenagers without being one himself. His writing style is unique and beautiful and inspires me to continue writing my own stories.

I love this book because it tells the love story of two cancer patients without solely focusing on the cancer. The characters in the story feel real because they are not down-played or over-exaggerated. I won't say too much about the content of the story because I want this review to be spoiler free as I would hate for any of you who don't know the story to be spoiled. However I will talk about how it made me feel. The story is inspiring and made me realise just how short our time is on the planet and to be grateful for each moment we have. It is an emotional roller coaster that only goes up my friends (notice the reference?) and I am glad that I was able to stay along for the ride.

I could write for hours and hours more about why this book is so good and why you have to read it but I won't do that; instead I will give you the pleasure of finding out yourself.

The movie version of the Fault in Our Stars is very true to the book. However John Green's writing captures more and details the struggles of the parents. The parents side of the story is something the movie barely explores. It's touching and sad and my favourite part of the story. This is an emotional read so don't read it on public transport!

In this story the characters have such depth and are fighting for something much more then just their lives. I think that John Green did a great job of showing how people fall in love in the midst of tragedy. I fell in love with the characters. If you are wondering if the book was better than the movie in my opinion it definitely was much better. Even though this is a young adult book I think any adult who loves a good love story would love this book.

Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book. - Hazel from TFIOS

This quote, said by Hazel from The Fault In Our Stars, sums up my feelings towards this book exactly. This book is so emotional from making you laugh and then cry and then putting yourself through the emotional turmoil all over again.

The Fault In Our Stars is a simply beautiful love story that I can't say enough good things about. John Green's writing style is perfect, every sentence fits perfectly and is written so well it s almost poetic.

If you haven't heard of TFIOS you've been living under a rock and if you haven't picked it up yet, DO IT! I guarantee you will not regret it. (Just make sure you have a box of tissues nearby, maybe even two boxes.)

I don't normally read contemporary, romance kinda novels, but I LOVE THIS BOOK. I read it twice in the first week I had it, and loved at both times. It is such an incredible story, with a brilliant but horrible ending. It takes the reader on a journey, and his writing is just amazing. It shows us just how lucky we are, and that the world is not a wish granting factory. Yes, I did just do that. ;D

This has become my new favourite book! It takes you on a journey of new found love, sending you on a path to Amsterdam where you see young love blossom and grow. You're then taken on this plummeting downpour of devastating events, causing you to observe the love and heartache brought upon two people via a disease that would eventually kill them both. This story is both empowering and heartbreaking. It a devastatingly beautiful journey and despite all the sadness in the book, I did end up smiling after I finished it, because it has changed my world.

If you have not read this book, then wow. TFIOS is about a girl called Hazel Grace. Hazel is a cancer patient who's thought to be suffering from depression. Due to that, her caring parents send her to a Cancer Support Group where she meets the stunning Augustus Waters. Hazel and Augustus seem to instantly connect but it is not sone perfect, insta love. Their relationship is messy and realistic, it isn't always great. TFIOS is not a typical cancer book that wants you to feel sympathetic towards people suffering from cancer. It is an almost realistic breathe-taking book. In all the times I have read this book I have laughed, shed tears and just be extremely happy, it brings out all the emotions. The quotes and metaphors on almost every page are brilliant, most of them even have hidden meanings that could take a while to figure out. In the end you will most probably fall in love with all of the characters as I have and not regret it. One of my favourite books

John Green is an impeccable writer and in The Fault in Our Stars he takes his ability to write clever, witty dialogue and believable frienship to the next level. I love that his characters are always questioning themselves and the people around them. They are thoughtful, cynical and humorous and the sarcasm and natural banter in this book is very fitting for the young people in it, Hazel Grace, Augustus Waters and Isaac. I couldn't put this book down for the first 252 pages and I avoided reading the last 61 pages because I knew it would hurt. This book is extrememly touching and John Green handles the subject matter with such grace.

On the cover of the Australian version, Markus Zusak says, You laugh, you cry and then you come back for more. I couldn't put it better myself, but I'll attempt to.

Im going to assume that the majority of people have had some kind of experience with cancer. I dont need to go into how horrible cancer is on both parties - the patient and the family. In The Fault in Our Stars, cancer isnt glorified and if anything, throughout the book its demonstrated just how awful it is. The characters arent seen as martyrs and I liked the fact that they were able to joke about things like cancer perks and coddling nurses. It doesnt seem possible that a book about cancer could exist that makes you laugh as much as it could make you cry but thats what I feel The Fault in Our Stars does.

The book is very emotional, as those of you who have read it will know, but its also fun. Hazel, Augustus and Isaac make it fun regardless of what theyre going through. They play video games, read books and watch television just like normal kids do. Realistically I dont think Ill ever encounter people in life who will have such metaphorically significant comments on the universe but thats just John Green for you. Hazel is my favourite protagonist out of all of Johns books and his first female narrator. Shes just a likeable character and her love of An Imperial Affliction is something I can appreciate as a lover of books. There is a certain charm about Augustus Waters that makes him impossible to dislike and I rooted for him and Hazel from the start. Theyre the tragic star-crossed lovers of this story and their relationship is a bittersweet one. Also Isaac, though only a minor character, is one of my favourites. I cant say the same for Van Houten, who I doubt I will ever like regardless of how many times I try to understand him. Its elements to the book like the books they exchange and the trip to Amsterdam make it all the more charming.

The writing style is very similiar to that of Johns other books. In other words, practically every sentence could be quotable for one reason or another. The Fault in Our Stars is a nice mix of meaningful and hilarious quotes. It doesnt take very long to read - for me personally its a book I can easily read in one sitting. This book will make you so attached to these characters that when the bubbles burst, its painful on all kinds of levels.

"The fault in our stars" has to be one of my most loved books. John Green, expertly delivers this story through well developed characters and deeply felt emotions.

Prepare yourself to be taken on an emotional roller coaster with these relatable characters who you will miss dearly as you turn the final page.

Finishing this book left a tear in my eye, not just because of the content, but also because the story had finished.

This Young Adult fiction is a beautiful story of a teenage couple who fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group. They both have cancer and they deal with it with so much maturity, that I guess can only be achieved because they are facing an early death.

The main characters of Augustus and Hazel are beautiful people, their love is deep and meaningful, at times you forget they are teenagers.

I will not give too much away except to say, girls you will need a tissue or two towards the end of this beautiful story.

There's something about the way John Green writes that completely hooks you. It's the witty remarks he gives to his characters, his confident (yet sensitive) comments about death and mourning ... and the light he shines on human suffering, especially the suffering that impacts young people.

I loved this book. The characters are well-fleshed out and believable and the themes are realised in a thoroughly accessible way. Not every author can tackle ideas of consciousness and existence and still keep young and old readers hooked on every page.

Some readers may find this book a little too tragic and intense for their liking, so read this book with the knowledge that you're in for an emotional ride.

That is precisely what gives 'The Fault in Our Stars' its power.

Everything about this novel was amazing. I stayed up until three in the morning reading and I cried uncontrollably like a baby.

Within the first few chapters I became so emotionally attached to the characters that I found some parts difficult to read because I couldn't stop crying. Hazel, you are beautiful and Gus, you are awe-inspiring.

John Green's ability to create incredible characters is beyond phenomenal. I cannot wait to read more of his stories.

This book is a gorgeous story that reaches more than the usual young adult fiction fans. The story is sweet and sad, with its romantic although realistic view of teens battling with cancer. The strong characters, particularly Augustus and Hazel, show suffering teens to be human, not only defined by their disease, making them so accessible and heartbreaking. The story is not without its fun elements and there is enjoyment to go with the hurt. You'll love the pain.

This novel kept me gripped from the beginning - I stayed up all night reading it! A wonderful story with such real characters, and even though my life was not the same as those of the characters, I could really connect because the themes of confronting challenges, loss, and love during adolescence are so universal and transcendent. Would definitely read again, and have recommended it to all my friends.
