Small decisions sometimes have large consequences . . . The rustle of leaves in the early morning. Sunlight filtering through the trees. The sound of water lapping against the rocky shore. Quiet footsteps announcing the approach of Father. They back farther into the green hedge formed by newly named flora. Both cringe as a stone rolls under her foot, causing her to stumble against him.A whisper floats on the breeze. "Adam, my son, where are you?"***And so began the long slide of humanity-a slope that would last into eternity for some. But for those who step out of the shadows and answer God's call, as Adam and Eve did, the slide ends. This devotional begins with Adam and Eve stepping out and allowing God to reclothe them with his choice of garment-but then will take us down the hall to our own fig leaf closets to examine how we are just like them, trying to hide from him behind our self-made, tattered clothing.Our first parents learned that one small choice, made outside of their Creator's presence, sometimes has large consequences. But given back to him in humility and obedience, God's mercy is the only clothing we need.
