Emma Forster, the ever-practical and devoted daughter of a cattle drover, has never thought of leaving the rural idyll of her family's Spring Gully homestead. However, an inheritance from the old country provides an advantage that could surely open doors for them all.

Moving to Tamworth to take over the running of The Royal Hotel leads the Forsters into wider Australian society and opens up Emma's life. As the first whispers of true love are heard, Emma relentlessly continues to do all she can to support her loved ones. Ultimately, Emma must follow her heart, even against unthinkable adversity.

Faced with a heart-wrenching decision, and with the vast expanse of the Queensland outback standing between her and her children, Emma must return to her roots to find her childhood Aboriginal friend Jimmy - her only hope in bringing her family back home safely.
