An engaging true story of fascinating intrigue, from ruling a country three times as big as the United Kingdom, having close engagement with Queen Victoria and Albert, meeting Emperor Napoleon III, spending time in bohemian pre-war Paris.
Then the impact of British and East India company colonialism and ultimately dispossession, loss and a move to a new life in Australia.
Professor Innes has researched the book using an amazing range of personal and academic sources.
Well written, an engaging read, highly recommended.
