'I want my books to have their own shelves,' you said, and that's how I knew it would be okay to live together.
A nameless couple meet,
fall in love,
move in together,
and then the hard work of loving each begins.

Told as a series of dictionary entries, The Lover's Dictionary is an intimate portrait of a relationship in all its guises; a compelling, deeply romantic story of two people loving each other: passionately, imperfectly.

Through these short entries, Levithan opens an intimate window into the couple's space, giving a name to their everyday struggles, giving us an indelible and deeply moving portrait of love in our time.

David Levithan

David Levithan is fearless in his writing and absolutely assumes that the teenagers he writes for can comprehend, enjoy and relate to complicated, full and enveloping emotions, and this unflinching faith in his readership has once again led him to write another contemporary classic.

Readings on Another Day  'David Levithan's latest release is timely and important but, most of all, it is astonishingly sophisticated.. Levithan has outdone himself.' Courier Mail on Two Boys Kissing 'Levithan's self-conscious, analytical style marries perfectly with the plot. His musings on love, longing and human nature knit seamlessly with A's journey.

Readers will devour his trademark poetic wordplay and cadences that feel as fresh as they were when he wrote Boy Meets Boy (2003). An awe-inspiring, thought-provoking reminder that love reaches beyond physical appearances or gender.

This book is a quick read and the concept is subtle yet impacting.

Levithan goes through the alphabet, and each letter has a variety of words that trigger a snapshot into the protagonist's life.

The protagonist and his 'love' are unnamed and only through these snapshots do we learn about them.

I loved this book as I find myself enjoying books about peoples life story. This allows the reader to delve into this relationship and get a real feel of the two characters love for each other.

This is a one sitting read, to sense the progression of the two peoples love. It is genuine with Levithan's subtly beautiful writing and so ever engaging. I had to put off eating dinner as I was too engrossed in the words, which is a big thing as eating is a true passion of mine.

I recommend this to everyone. I heard of people that generally don't read romance and still read this and loved it. It is universal and everyone can find a slice or maybe it all that they can relate to, and for this reason is why I recommend it highly.
