This title is being published posthumously, some 15 years after the death of the author, who, prior to that, had compiled several railway titles for the Oakwood Press. The unpublished manuscript was passed to the Welsh Railways Research Circle, with whose assistance Colins last book has been prepared for publication. Prior to Grouping, South Wales was a hornets nest of local railway companies, one of whom is the subject of this book. The PC&NR, initially an independent concern comprising about seven and a half miles of main line railway, was absorbed by the Alexandra (Newport & South Wales) Docks and Railway, so to some extent, the development of this concern is examined too. The illustrations include photographs and half a dozen or so maps.
