Wetlands and Urbanization: Implications for the Future, is the result of a ten year research project that focused on the Puget Sound Wetlands and Stormwater Management. This research program was a regional effort designed to define the impact of urbanization on wetlands. A major goal of the program was to apply the research results in order to improve the management of both urban wetland resources and stormwater. The book documents the backgrounds, methods and results of the research and uses the information to draw conclusions about the medium-and long-term prograssion of Puget Sound lowland palustrine wetland ecosystems in urban areas. This information was then used to determine how the wetlands of the Puget Sound, and the stormwater affecting them could best be managed for resource protection in developing and developed areas. The culminations of this ten year research project is a set of comprehensive guidelines for the management of the area.
