Laura Ljungkvist followed the line from Sweden all the way to New York City, where she has lived since 1993. She is the author and illustrator of four other children's books and has created packaging, advertising, and more for corporate clients in fields ranging from fashion to finance. Her editorial artwork has appeared in many publications including The New Yorker, Harper's Bazaar, Town & Country, and Wallpaper.

Laura Ljunkvist currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter, and dog.
