It was an El Niño year. Would ants and grasshoppers survive the heat? Would there be enough food and water for the chickens, pigs, and dogs?
"What's El Niño?" Georgia Grasshopper asked. "We'll have no rain," Annie D. Ant answered. "Grrrreat! I will dance and play and sing all year!" Georgia Grasshopper jumped up and down. ""We'll have no food and water," Annie D. Ant added. "That doesn't sound too good," Georgia Grasshopper said...
Everyone waited for the rain. But there was no rain. The river and the fields dried up. Soon, many animals were starving. Annie invited to her home some of her friends -- the Little Red Hen, the Poky Little Puppy, and the Three Little Pigs. Georgia was unfriendly with the "evacuees" even if it was Annie's home and not hers. Georgia was worried that there would not be enough food and water for all seven of them. Christmas was around the corner.
"We'll get by," Annie D. Ant said.
Would they get by? How? Wouldn't they all die of thirst and hunger?
