What an eventful life! In the early 18th Century, Susanna Wesley had to contend with the cares of motherhood {19 children}, mounting debts, plus a church which did not wish to see lay people - especially women - take on spiritual leadership. The two-way relationship with her son John Wesley is her high point in terms of both spiritual formation and lively faith.
