While becoming a cook, I wished for a manual on how to learn the techniques necessary to produce the dishes I wanted to serve. This book is an effort to do just that. Each chapter explores a particular cooking method and provides recipes for dishes utilizing it. If one reads

the introduction of the technique and cooks a few of the recipes using that method, one will become proficient in it.

No special equipment should be needed, and no complicated recipes need to be remembered; eventually, one would look at what they have in their pantry, refrigerator, or freezer and cook dinner.
