THERE WAS NO MAN BRED IN THE ROCKIES HARDER THAN… MOUNTAIN JACK PIKE.Raunchy, rough and ready... that's Mountain Jack Pike... the best of the brawling beaver trappers.A hulking bear of a man, Jack Pike has all the necessary tools to stand hard and fast in the naked wilderness that surrounds him. Big and bold as the mountains that bred him, Mountain Jack has all the ladies lined up as he and Skins McConnell spend a few days with Jim Bridger and his mountain party. Jack's one of a dying breed of mountain men, and the ladies are hell-bent on saving the strain! And Jack's hard put to ignore all those sweet-sniffing intentions. It's enough to drive a poor man up the nearest gopher hole!By the time Jack and Skins head for the hills, Jack's as hard and raw as a blister on a cow's rump during mating season. Elsewise, he wouldn't have been such easy pickings for those Crow Indians.Jack draws the line at being used as Crow bait as the Redskins try to use him to lure Bridger into a trap. Madder than a male timbercat up a tree, Jack takes it real personal. It's tough to keep a hard man down, and neither Crow nor critter can keep Jack from coming out on top with all his equipment in apple-pie order.
