"Our lives are like trees,
Evolve like the birds and the bees,
Dissolve like the leaves."
This haiku summarizes the essence of life in its simplest form using nature as a metaphor which essentially is what a haiku is. Just three simple lines 17 syllables (5, 7 and 5), and the inspiration to see life in a different way, perhaps a different perspective in a way life has never appeared before.
While haikus are rooted in nature, they also must reflect our current times. And the landscape of the 21st century offers us many opportunities to observe human nature as well as the natural world. Therefore, I've broken my book into seven chapter with an explanation on what haikus are. The chapters are Nature; Uncommon Sense; Cosmic Dust; Love, Family & Friendship; Spirituality & Religion; History & Politics; and Pastimes.
