This dictionary is a layman's dictionary to nautical terms to help those who are just getting their feet wet in boating, know what the lingo means. Boating has its own language to describe various functions and features of a boat. I hope this dictionary will help you decode the mystery words used in boat literature, salespeople, and magazines.

This is by no means the dictionary of ALL nautical terms, but contains over 5300 of the most common terms used by recreational boaters today, and over time. We have left alone the military terms and international shipping terms for the most part.
