Have you ever tried to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes?
I am in New Zealand after a period of struggle. I feel cold when facing the Franz Josef glacier. I don’t like cold. Lately, I have been trapped in the past. I also foresee traps in the future. But today, rather than looking forward or backward, I face down. I take off my shoes. A cold shiver runs down my spine when I put on boots that are not mine. A laminated letter tells the story of Keller’s early passing and his desire to travel New Zealand.
I pull myself up by its bootstraps. With Keller’s boots on my feet, I will set his footsteps. Keller becomes my guide. My inspirer. My friend. Keller changes my day, my future and the way I view my past. I tie my laces and look up. The glacier becomes more graceful by the cold. I become more gracious to the cold.
If life seems to be upside down, try to change perspective. This is how I, from that moment on, have traveled the world. How I have written this book about it to honor Keller and to guide fellow travelers. And how I have tried to live my life.
This collection of one-pagers contains over 100 philosophies, poems, questions, quests and challenges. Keller and I attempt to inspire you to get the most out of your journey. Anywhere and anytime. We will guide you, so you won’t forget your travel. I will never forget Keller, my guide. Forever on my mind.
If the shoes fit, grace us with wearing them!
