In the first story the Dianna, the daughter of Zoe and Todd disappears down New River. From the daughter's vantage she visits another world which enters into this world in surprising ways. In the second story, the couple try to help save their marriage by having an adventure together on a trip to Europe where they agree to do one wild thing in each country. This leads to unexpected complications which needs their daughter to help resolve.

The story In the Wild draws upon the author's travels to Europe and his historical study for a course he taught on the archetypes of Western Civilization. The challenge to do a wild thing, however, comes from a suggestion by a friend after a trip to the deep South.
