- The text discusses the impacts of climate change on human migration patterns in the United States and around the world. As the climate warms, large populations will be displaced from areas that become uninhabitable due to rising seas, drought, heat waves, wildfires, and other climate impacts.

- Regions most at risk of displacement include coastal areas, the American Southwest, Caribbean islands, parts of Africa and Latin America. Millions of people could be displaced globally by 2100 due to sea level rise alone.

- Climate change is exacerbating poverty, conflict, and inequality in vulnerable regions, driving more people to migrate. However, climate is rarely the sole cause of migration - economic, social and political factors also play a role.

- In the US, cities like Miami, New Orleans, and Phoenix are at high risk from climate impacts. Wildfires have also displaced many from California cities. Demographic modeling suggests 13-150 million Americans may need to relocate by 2100.

- "Receiver communities" like Atlanta, Tampa, and Great Lakes cities may experience rapid population growth as climate migrants relocate. But this migration poses challenges around housing, infrastructure, resources, and social tensions.

- Adapting to climate migration will require improved planning, funding, and policies at local, state and national levels to support resilient and equitable communities. Managed retreat from high-risk areas may also be necessary.

- Reducing emissions through transitions to renewable energy and green jobs programs can mitigate some future migration by limiting warming to safer levels. But climate change impacts are already locked in, so adapting to migration will remain crucial.
