Why are we born?! Why is the Universe here? What is the complete design of our Universe? Who designed this Universe? How best can we function in this Universe? Is it possible that we have been present in this Universe before this lifetime, in some other body? If so, will we be here again in the far future as well? Science is only in the very beginning stages of attempting to answer these profound questions. If the Big Bang theory of Physics asks us to assume that there was a magical blast long, long ago and the Universe emerged from the shrapnel of that blast, it does not tell us what was it that blasted, nor why whatever that was was even present! The scientific alternative to Big Bang is Stephen Hawkings' proposal that the Universe has existed forever. Hmm.. if it is here, someone or something must have created or put it here, and if it has been here forever, exactly when then was it created or put here?! And, is that someone or something who did that not part of this Universe? That is, is there something outside of the space and time that we are aware of? Leave alone the Universe, consider just us: science is yet to start addressing the question of why we human beings are here, even if the theory of evolution takes one possible view on how we are here physically. How is different from why! Why are we able to think and reason about ourselves and our Universe? Are we an instance of the current Artifical Intelliigence phenomenoon of emergent behaviour?
The only philosophy that seems to have better answers than science to these profound questions is Hindu philosophy. Hinduism is more than a religion, it is a philosophy of our entire Universe -- including of ourselves, who are part of this Universe. To you, the thinking reader, this introductory book provides a logical guide to the path to discovering that Hindu philosophy is a scientific theory of our Universe and of ourselves that can be scientifically verified provided we are willing to use the tools and methods of proof that are warranted by the subject matter that is being addressed. Come then, let us take an introductory tour of this marvellous, scientific philosophy that actually encourages us to ponder, question, and even prove things for ourselves about our Universe and about us.
