Murray argues that prayer is essential for true Christian growth and transformation, and that it is a means of deepening one's relationship with God. He emphasizes the importance of developing a daily prayer practice, and of cultivating an attitude of humility, faith, and dependence on God in prayer. The book draws heavily on biblical examples of prayer, such as the Lord's Prayer, and on the teachings of Jesus on prayer. Murray argues that through prayer, Christians can experience God's power and guidance in their lives, and can bring their concerns and needs before him with confidence.
