Mark Davidson grew up in South Africa. After completing 2 years of military service as an infantry soldier, he studied and completed a BA Ed degree in Human Movement Sciences at the University of the Free State. His teaching career began in1994 and he has taught in schools in South Africa, Malawi, Taiwan and Australia. While working in the airline industry, he completed a Master of Philosophy degree in Applied Theology at the University of Pretoria. Mark married the love of his life, Bev, in 2000 and they have been blessed with 2 beautiful sons, John and James. He is the pastor of Bridge of Life Christian Fellowship in Tasmania, Australia.

MARK DAVIDSON is the Curator of the Bob Dylan Archive and the Director of Archives and Exhibits for American Song Archives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which manages the Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie Centers. Mark earned his PhD in musicology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2015, with a dissertation titled "Recording the Nation: Folk Music and the Government in Roosevelt's New Deal, 1936-1941."

In 2014, he earned his Master's in Science in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on archiving and library science. Mark has published numerous articles and essays on music, archiving, and Bob Dylan, including Blood in the Stacks: On the Nature of Archives in the Twenty-First Century, published in The World of Bob Dylan (Cambridge University Press, 2021).
