In addition to two Caldecott Honors, Brian Pinkney has also been awarded the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award, a Coretta Scott King Award, and four Coretta Scott King Honors. Whenever he sets a goal he taps into his inner animal, and he credits an active and playful imagination as a key to his success in sports, art, and life. Brian lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and frequent collaborator, Andrea Davis Pinkney, and their two children.

Brian Pinkney is an award-winning artist of several acclaimed books for children, including Duke Ellington, Hush, Little Baby, and The Faithful Friend.
