What exactly is Revlimid?
Revlimid has an effect on the immunological system. It stimulates immunological responses, which helps to prevent tumor development.
Revlimid is used to treat multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer), either alone or in combination with other medications.
Revlimid is also used to treat anemia (low red blood cell count) in individuals with myelodysplastic syndrome caused by a chromosomal abnormality. Because a portion of chromosome 5 is missing, this condition is also known as deletion 5q MDS. The bone marrow does not make enough healthy blood cells in persons with this condition.
Revlimid is also used to treat mantle cell lymphoma (a rare cancer of the lymph nodes) after other treatments have failed.
