Every Holy book is full of contradictions and hypocrisy because they are written by mortal men to try to instill order and rules into their communities. In virtually every religion, its Gods, prophets or saints do morally ambiguous to evil things but I can take what I think are the good things from these books and package them down into a simple, easy-to-read book where you can see the good wisdom and uplifting stuff without convoluted verbal diarrhea mixed in with it.

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.
Proverbs 3:13-14

Now listen you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
James 4:13-14

The price of wisdom is above rubies.
Job 28:18

Happy is the man that finds wisdom and the man that gets understanding. For it is more profitable than silver and it gives greater return than fine gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies and all the things you can desire are not to be compared to it. Length of days is in its right hand and in its left hand are riches and honor. Its ways are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace. Wisdom is a tree of life and a blessing to those who lay hold upon it.
Proverbs 3:13-18

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all your getting get understanding.
Proverbs 4:7

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold and to get understanding rather than silver.
Proverbs 16:16

He that gets wisdom loves his own soul. He that keeps understanding shall find good.
Proverbs 19:8

Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no longer take advice.
Ecclesiastes 4:13

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight.
Isaiah 5:21

Give your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, so that I may discern between good and evil.
Kings 3:9-10

Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
Psalms 90:12
