Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (also known as Conan the Cimmerian) and Kull of Atlantis stories spawned the sword and sorcery genre along with many numerous subsequent fantastic tales and films.

Howard’s classic tales often centered around exotic themes and locales, pitting a powerful hero against incredible odds. Writing more than just sword and sorcery fiction, Howard’s stories spanned many genres with works including westerns, action-adventure, horror, humor, sports (particularly boxing), detective fiction, and steamy romances.

Howard’s diverse works have captured the imaginations of generations with the influence of Conan the Barbarian compared to such icons as Tarzan of the Apes, Count Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, and James Bond.
