The Good Soldier is a novel written by an English novelist, Ford Madox Ford. It was written just before the World War I. The novel is told using a series of flashbacks in non-chronological order.

The original of this novel was The Saddest Story, but after the World War I, Ford was asked for a new title. Ford suggested The Good Soldier, and the name stuck.

This novel is also in the list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.
