An A-list past. A house that holds. A rule that keeps them safe.

When actor slips into the island town of Huckle Cove as Evan Shore, the North Star Playhouse offers him the one role he can stand: not being the star. Under stage manager Rhea Kapoor's watch, the theatre runs on rituals—"kindness at 6:07," a pledge board, a ghost light—where breath is blocking and competence is love.

Rumors try to audition. The town declines to cast them. Donor nights, paper tech, ferry math, even a roof replacement become a liturgy of small, brave verbs. Somewhere between final dress and a storm-stalled curtain, a not-kiss turns into the kind of yes that respects a rule.

As Evan chooses honesty over headlines and Rhea chooses joy she doesn't have to supervise, the theatre teaches them both how to keep a room—and a life—steady. For readers who like cozy, community-rich romance with grown-up communication, The Seventh Take is a love story about schedules, ferries, and the radical romance of showing up on time.

Fallen actor, meticulous manager; ferries schedule love.
