Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903) was an American writer working in the genres humour and satire and collecting folklore. He studied American and European traditions and travelled a lot while working as a journalist. Leland became famous for his comic book 'Hans Breitman's Ballads'. This is an old Indian legend that was collected and retold by Charles Leland. It tells us about a man who is traveling across the land and comes to a tree on the top of which a racoon is sitting and a man and a woman are dancing around the tree in the way magicians do it. How will the story end? Read this amazing story and you will know!
