A billionaire who wants a perfect wife...

At thirty-five, Marcus Carelli has it all: wealth, power, and the kind of looks that leave women breathless. A self-made billionaire, he heads one of the largest hedge funds on Wall Street and can take down major corporations with a single word. The only thing he’s missing? A wife who’d be as big of an achievement as the billions in his bank account.

A cat lady who needs a date…

Twenty-six-year-old bookstore clerk Emma Walsh has it on good authority that she’s a cat lady. She doesn’t necessarily agree with that assessment, but it’s hard to argue with the facts. Raggedy clothes covered with cat hair? Check. Last professional haircut? Over a year ago. Oh, and three cats in a tiny Brooklyn studio? Yep, she’s got those.

And yes, fine, she hasn’t had a date since… well, she can’t recall. But that part is fixable. Isn’t that what the dating sites are for?

A case of mistaken identity…

One high-end matchmaker, one dating app, one mix-up that changes everything... Opposites may attract, but can this last?

Oh my gosh! I was hooked on this book from the very beginning! Emma made Marcus work for every inch forward and the process was a tantalizing tease.

When Emma has to face the fact that she is indeed a cat lady, she decides to dip her toe into her dating app possibilities. But when her date ends up being a real jerk, she high tails it out of there PDQ. Things are not exactly as she first assumed, however, and despite the attraction she feels for her the man she mistakenly thought was her date, things can’t progress. He’s looking for a sophisticated wife and she’s everything but.

I connected with Emma on so many levels. She is your girl next door, your best friend, or your book buddy. I loved her conversations with her cats and the way she generally processed what was happening and worked them out in her head. She may not have always been right, but I could totally relate to her reasoning. The fact that she stuck to her main dating rule made me love her all the more. Mostly because it was one of the things that drew Marcus even further into her sphere. She was cute, bookish, a bit shy, and absolutely perfect for this hero.

’With that dimpled smile, the little redhead looks so … adorable I want to lick her like an ice cream cone.’

Marcus’ criteria in a wife was by far romantically ideal and I immediately knew he was going to be twisted up by what this author was offering instead. I loved that he had to chase Emma and he did so in such a way that I fell deeper and deeper in love with him. A “mine” mentality is not part of his makeup, but the more he gets to know Emma, the more that part of him emerges.

’It’s impossible to be suave and seductive with the vilent hunger beating at me, demanding that I take her, that I do whatever it takes to make her mine.
If these were more primitive times, I’d have already thrown her over my shoulder and carried her off to my cave.’

This isn’t insta-anything, except perhaps attraction and I was completely engaged in how this couple went about developing a relationship. There is no deny the sizzling chemistry between them and while some might consider this a bit of a slow burn, it never felt that way to me. And once this couple come together, holy fireballs! Things are absolutely explosive! Whew! Talk about steam!

I loved every single thing about this story. The characters are each developed in such a way that I couldn’t help but cheer them on. The drama never heavy and the angst relatively light until the last part of the book. That’s when things take a decidedly anxious turn for both Emma and myself. I found myself keeping an eye on the percentage mark left in the book and them BAM! Gah! How did I not know this ended in a cliffhanger? And while I want so much more of Marcus and Emma…I’ve gotta wait for it!!! But no problem, I’ll just stalk the author until that time.
