The Katy series is a set of novels by American children's author Sarah Chauncey Woolsey, who wrote under the pen name of Susan Coolidge. The first in the series, “What Katy Did,” was published in 1872 and followed the next year by “What Katy Did at School.”

The two first novels were followed the current novel "What Katy Did Next," first published in 1886, and two other sequels that continued one of the most important collections in children's literature: Clover" and "In the High Valley."

This time, "What Katy Did Next" tells the adventures of Katy Carr as she travels to Europe. Katy can hardly believe it when she is invited to spend a whole year in Europe with Mrs Ashe and Amy. Although a year seems like a long time away from her beloved family, living in the small American town of Burnet, Katy embarks enthusiastically on her greatest adventure.
